How do you define “team”?

One of the best definitions I have come across is this – “A combination of people who’s interdependent and interrelated efforts are necessary to accomplish a given task or set of tasks.”

I think the key words here are “interdependent” and “interrelated”. I see the word “team” used quite a bit without this criteria being a part of it.

I wonder if that is why the word doesn’t seem to have the power it once did? What team are you a member of? Is your team interdependent and interrelated?
