Relationship Tip #13:
Spouses and ‘significant others’ of your team members are your
outside team. Consider including them in a number of activities from the obvious to the not so obvious for team development. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Company celebrations – an obvious activity to bridge home and work life together.
- Employee opinion surveys --have a special category for the outside team and get their feedback -- not only will the community at large be stunned by your interest, but you will get feedback without the same filters that influence your inside team’s responses.
- Invite to concluding sessions of significant projects, or development events.
- Invite to participate in providing feedback to their spouse or partner in any 360 feedback process -- be sure that they are in a respondent group of their own, unless children also participate and then the group would be labeled “family."
